Cambridge Academy of Therapeutic Sciences (CATS)

The Cambridge Academy of Therapeutic Sciences (CATS) is a strategic research initiative that facilitates the development of new therapeutics and supports the education and training of
the next generation of world-leading researchers. The Academy welcomes academics from across the University, scientists and managers from industry, and key opinion leaders and thinkers concerned with regulatory, legal and policy issues.

The Translation Champion network consists of senior academic members from across schools and relevant departments active
in therapeutics and mectech research. Translation Champions help to directly support translational research projects, through various internal awards such as the Developing Concept Fund, Access to Expertise, and the CATS Experts in Residence programme.

They also sponsor training and focus on bridging the gender gap in innovation.

Industry Experts in Residence are available to University of Cambridge staff for:

  • Advice on the applicability of specific ideas to drug discovery, diagnostics & devices
  • Advice on translational grant applications
  • Discussions about progression of current translational research projects
  • Collaboration with Cambridge Enterprise
