The Lucy Enterprise Challenge

The Lucy Enterprise Challenge is an annual entrepreneurship and innovation competition at Lucy Cavendish College that brings together multidisciplinary student teams to develop solutions to real-world challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

Selected teams take part in an intensive Challenge Weekend, where they receive mentoring, coaching, and practical support from entrepreneurs, investors, innovators, and industry experts. Participants refine their ideas, test assumptions, and develop proposals before pitching their solutions to a judging panel.

The Challenge is designed to be accessible to students from all disciplines and backgrounds, encouraging participants to combine their knowledge, skills, and experiences to create innovative solutions with social, environmental, or economic impact. The focus is on developing actionable ideas and building entrepreneurial confidence, rather than requiring prior business experience.

Alongside the opportunity to win funding to help implement their ideas, participants gain exposure to Cambridge’s wider innovation ecosystem through mentorship, networking, and feedback from experienced founders and professionals.
