RisingWISE nurtures an interest in commercialisation, focusing specifically on commercialisation as a route to impact and the delivery of economic, social and environmental value. It is tailored specifically for women early career researchers and faculty working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics as well as the medical sciences (STEMM) in both academia and industry.
A small number of PhD students who are nearing the end of their studies and thinking about next steps are also welcome. RisingWISE has been developed to address the challenge of connecting researchers to business and industry, bringing together women early career researchers from the universities of Cambridge and Oxford to meet with women working in industry and business, who face similar impact challenges. Rather than existing in competition with each other, both universities developed an innovative, collaborative programme, including working closely with industry to build mutual relationships, aiming to benefit STEM researcher women from both institutions, and all involved.
